Dennis Corporation will be continuing in their efforts to promote the development of disadvantaged businesses throughout the state by participating in the Mentor Protégé Program (MPP) for the upcoming 2009 year. This program, sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), strives to link certified businesses of the South Carolina Unified Certification Program (UCP), service providers and general contractors.

This is the second year that Dennis Corporation has participated in the SCDOT’s mentoring program. As a member of the MPP Committee, President Dan Dennis stated, “We are excited to be involved in the planning of this important program again this year. I look forward to providing the company with the opportunity to serve as mentors to local growing DBE firms.”

The Mentor-Protégé Program teams DBE firms with a mentoring firm and these teams  work together over a 24-month period to gain valuable knowledge and experience in strategic planning, marketing and business development, financial management, contract procurement, bid preparation and procedures, business management, personnel and operational management of a company.

Dennis Corporation is proud to be involved in this program again and is excited to have the opportunity to mentor rising DBE firms in the area. Since its inception in 2005, Dennis Corporation has contributed time and resources to educating individuals and firms about engineering practices. Working with the MPP project further illustrates Dennis Corporation’s commitment to helping DBE firms obtain work in today’s competitive market.
