The Whipple Road thoroughfare was in dire need of rehabilitation and widening in order to suitably serve the demands of traffic from Mount Pleasant. Dennis Corporation performed project management, surveying and testing for the Whipple Road Improvement Project. The project consisted of the widening of Whipple Road into 3 lanes, including a center turning lane; a new traffic light; and new sidewalks.

These improvements to Whipple Road will alleviate many traffic issues for the Town of Mount Pleasant. Whipple Road serves as a connector between Mathis Ferry Road and Long Point Road, two major avenues into and out of town. The improvement project enhanced traffic flow on the road through the addition of a center turn lane and smoothed paved surface.

At the ceremony, the Mayor of Mt. Pleasant, Harry M. Hallman, turned on the new traffic signal at the intersection of Indigo Court and Whipple Road for the first time to signify the road’s grand opening. This served as a momentous event for the residents of Snee Farm, a large neighborhood, whose only other outlets were on the far side of the neighborhood; the light provides them safe passage onto and off of the increasingly busy thoroughfare. Dennis Corporation’s Assistant Construction Manager, Todd Young, attended the event and was pleased with the project’s efficient progress and the value it offers to the Mount Pleasant community. “This project offered a much needed improvement to the traffic flow in Mount Pleasant. We were happy to provide not only a smooth running and more efficient road, but we were also able to complete the project six months ahead of schedule. We look forward to serving the community of Mount Pleasant in the future.”
