Recently, Dennis Corporation employees were fortunate enough to be able to honor SgtMaj Harvey Parks with a trip to Washington D.C. to see the WWII memorial.  Dennis Corporation was able to raise $1800 through employee donations in order to send SgtMaj Parks on an all expense paid trip.

SgtMaj Parks, a 32 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War Veteran, left Columbia with Dennis Corporation President, Mr. Dan Dennis, Tuesday, November 10 and arrived at Quantico. SgtMaj Parks met hundreds of Marines who all thanked him for his service to our country, including a three star General who told SgtMaj Parks that if it wasn’t for his sacrifices he would not have been a Marine today.

SgtMaj Parks was given a VIP tour of Quantico and visited the new Marine Corps Museum where the history of the Marine Corps is impressively told.  After noting SgtMaj Parks amongst the audience, the tour guide stated that there was a Marine in the room who knew far more about Iwo Jima than he did.  The guide then referred all questions to SgtMaj Parks for answering.

On day two of his trip, SgtMaj Parks visited the WW II Memorial where he was interviewed by several news agencies. He was also asked to attend the wreath laying ceremony, a momentous event where wreaths are laid at various memorials throughout the Washington D.C. area to pay tribute to our fallen heroes. Afterwards, SgtMaj Parks was exclusively invited to attend an event sponsored by the Red Cross featuring singer, songwriter Amy Grant.
