Dennis Corporation is proud to announce the addition of Sergeant Major Harvey Parks, USMC (Ret.), to our team. SGM Parks is a 32 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and is a World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War Veteran and a member of our nation’s Greatest Generation.
SGM Parks will be serving as a Marketing Assistant, performing market research for the company and working alongside our marketing division to identify business, current events and historical data necessary to the pursuit of clients for the firm.
After joining the Marine Corps in 1942, SGM Parks had a long and distinguished record of service to our country, participated in the Pacific Island hoping campaign during World War II including areas such as Guadalcanal, New Guinea, Guam, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and even serving as part of the occupation forces in Japan in 1946. Before retiring from the Marines in 1972, SGM Parks also served in Korea, Cuba during the Bay of Pigs Invasion and the Vietnam War.
Fellow Marine, Steve Baker, who currently serves as Assistant Construction Manager for Dennis Corporation, looks forward to the knowledge that SGM Parks will bring to Dennis Corporation. He stated, “As a former Marine, I am both honored and humbled by the opportunity to work alongside SGM Parks. He served during one of the most critical times in our nation’s history. When you read of places like Gualcanal, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa, you read about legends – ordinary men who went above and beyond the call of duty to answer our nation’s call. To obtain the rank of Sergeant Major of the Marines requires selfless acts and the ability to lead decisively and serve as a role model and mentor to all ranks, officer and enlisted. SGM Parks brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Dennis Corporation team.”
Since retiring form the military, SGM Parks has also worked for the South Carolina Department of Corrections as a warden at the Goodman Correctional Institute and for the University of South Carolina as a professor of Criminology and Penology. He has also worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad as a building and grounds contractor for over 20 years.
