Dennis Corporation is honored to win the 2012 West Virginia Engineering Excellence award from the West Virginia Department of Transportation Division of Highways for our Hurricane, WV, personnel’s work on the North Charleston Signal Renovation project. The North Charleston project was selected among nine projects competing in the Planning, Traffic and Environmental category.

“It is an honor to be selected for an award regarding engineering excellence and a true reflection of the quality of work produced by our staff,” said Mr. Travis Miller, senior transportation engineer and West Virginia Division Manager.

Mr. Miller and Mr. John Stewart, a senior design technician, accepted the award from Ms. Cindy Cramer, director of WVDOH Traffic Engineering Division, and Mr. Monty Khan, Traffic Engineering Division Design Section Head.

The North Charleston Signal Renovation included the total traffic signal renovations of eight intersections in the North Charleston area of Charleston, WV. The project also included the creation of a signal interconnect system to facilitate traffic flow, new pavement markings, related signage, sidewalk wheelchair ramps, priority control for emergency vehicles and coordination of all utilities. The state of the existing 30-year-old system and strict fulfillment of all American Disability Act requirements added to the challenging project.
