Dennis Corporation to Host Two Benedict College Interns

Dennis Corporation was recently selected by Benedict College to host two engineering interns as part of the School to Work Internship Program (SWIP). SWIP is a ten week program sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The program will allow five students, interested in transportation careers, to participate in an internship program and gain hands-on experiences in the field of transportation. This year, Dennis Corporation has been selected to host two of these interns.

This is the second year Benedict College has administered the Spring School to Work Transportation Program. To be selected for the program, interns had to complete an application process which was extremely competitive and those selected were judged on an entry essay, their grade point average and letters of recommendation.

Interns in the program will work a minimum of 150 hours at an engineering firm and will be required to prepare a research paper. At the end or their internship, the students will appear before a panel of transportation professionals to present their final research paper.
