In an effort to aid high school students in their pursuit of education, Dennis Corporation donated $150 to Blythewood High School’s For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology Robotics (FIRST) team.  This donation goes toward helping the students to purchase the necessary supplies for their robot.

FIRST Robotics is an organization dedicated to promoting young people’s interest in and love of science and technology.  In accordance with their mission, they hold the Palmetto Regional competition that will be in North Charleston this year.

The students receive a kit with some basic supplies and then are free to collectively design and program their own robot. A challenge is presented to the students during the competition and their success hinges on how well they have developed their robot. “We’ve really developed our skills in the areas of electrical and mechanical systems, as well as programming, and expect this year’s robot to be a success at the given challenge,” said Andrew Patterson, captain of Blythewood’s FIRST Robotics Team.

Dennis Corporation is honored to help these young future professionals continue to grow in their knowledge and love of engineering. Dennis Corporation has several employees who live in the Blythewood area and is active in the Blythewood Chamber of Commerce.
