Dennis Corporation is overseeing the construction management of the $12,000,000 renovation of the historic Township Auditorium in downtown Columbia.

Renovations to the Auditorium include stage expansions and renovations such as a new stage floor, new loading area, and new service elevator; basement renovations including new electrical and new dressing rooms; and new additions such as a larger lobby space, new public restrooms, elevators and concession areas; the exterior will also be renewed with a new coat of paint as well as a new ceiling and roof.

While working on the renovations to the Auditorium, a time capsule was found underneath a cornerstone that was built into the wall. The time capsule, which was from the 1930’s, contained issues of The State newspaper, the Sunday Record and various business cards.

The Township Auditorium has been a place for entertainment since 1930 and Dennis Corporation is proud to be able to assist in and be a part of enhancing this historic site so that it  can be used for many years to come.

The Township is tentatively scheduled to reopen its doors and reveal its new and improved look by the first week of May, 2010.
