Dennis Corporation Recognized for Scholarship Donation

Continuing with its efforts to give back to the City of Columbia, Dennis Corporation was recognized on January 17, 2011 at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Park and Community Center on Greene Street for its donation to the Dream Keeper Scholarship fund. Dennis Corporation’s donation was accepted as the second place Dream Keeper Scholarship.

The Dream Keeper Scholarship program was established in 1990 by the City with the hope of that this scholarship would benefit young people within the City of Columbia to be engaged in a way that would prompt them to action. The program has been successful, as demonstrated by the efforts of previous Dream Keeper scholarship winners.

Held in conjunction with the 2011 King Day celebration, Dennis Corporation’s donation of $500 was awarded as a scholarship to John Black who attends Richland Northeast High School where he is currently a junior. The program consisted of performances from Benedict College Gospel Choir, Lower Richland High School Gospel Choir, and Alpha Psi Lambda.

Dennis Corporation was represented by Ross Oakley, EIT, Engineering Associate and Kara Pound, Marketing Associate. “This event touched the hearts and minds of all those in attendance. I am proud to represent Dennis Corporation, and delighted that we took the opportunity to sponsor these young people who give so much back to their community,” said Kara about the event.
