Continuing with its efforts to contribute to the City of Columbia, Dennis Corporation was recognized on January 26, 2009 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park and Community Center on Greene Street for its donation to the Dream Keeper scholarship fund. Dennis Corporation’s donation was accepted as a portion of the first place Dream Keeper scholarship.

The Dream Keeper scholarship was established almost ten years ago by Councilman E. W. Cromartie, II. It was the hope of Councilman Cromartie that this scholarship would benefit young people within the City of Columbia to be engaged in a way that would prompt them to action. The program has been successful, as demonstrated by the efforts of previous Dream Keeper scholarship winners.

Held in conjunction with the 2009 King Day celebration, Dennis Corporation attended the award ceremony and was recognized during the program as a sponsor. “This event touched the hearts and minds of all those in attendance. I am proud to represent Dennis Corporation, and delighted that we took the opportunity to sponsor these young people who give so much back to their community,” said Kara DeFelice, Dennis Corporation marketing associate, who attended the event along with Tim Antley, Dennis Corporation’s Construction Services Manager.

The first prize scholarship winner, Timothy White, a student from Dreher High School, graciously accepted the scholarship from Tim Antley of Dennis Corporation. The program consisted of showcase performances from the Capital City Chorale and Dent Middle School Unit Gospel Choir, with a memorable acapella performance of the “National Anthem.”
