Dennis Corporation, a civil engineering, surveying and construction management firm headquartered in Columbia, SC,  is proud to announce the completion of its  involvement in the World Trade Center Replacement Project.  Members of their Quality Assurance and Non-Destructive Testing (QA and NDT) division performed shop fabrication inspections of the steel, which will be used to construct Tower 4 of the project. The inspections took place at Banker Steel’s fabrication facility in Lynchburg, Virginia. Now that it is complete, the steel will travel to the World Trade Center site to be used during construction.

Tower 4, which will be located on the previous World Trade Center site, will top out at 975 feet tall, making it the 4th tallest skyscraper of the 5 tower project. It was designed by Maki and Associates Architects and will include 2.3 million square feet of office and retail space.

Dennis Corporation QA and NDT Manager, Mr. Julian Hamilton, led the inspections for Dennis Corporation. Mr. Hamilton, a National  Welding Society Certified Inspector, has performed similar inspections for commercial, government and military projects throughout his career. Even as a veteran inspector, Mr. Hamilton was still humbled by his role in the World Trade Center Project. Mr. Hamilton stated, “Dennis Corporation and myself are proud to have been involved in such a monumental project.  It is an honor to be able to take part in the rebuilding of a landmark that is both symbolic and inspirational to the entire world.”

Once complete, The World Trade Center Replacement Project will include 5 towers, a National September 11th Memorial and Museum, retail complex, transportation hub and performing arts center. The 21st century buildings will also display works by architects such as David Childs, Frank Gehry and Fumihiko Maki.
