Dennis Corporation interns Megan Easterlin and Kyle Titus successfully utilized the skills they learned in the classroom and practical experience gained from working at Dennis Corporation to lead their team in winning first place in Surveying at the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Carolinas Conference. Megan and Kyle, Senior Civil Engineering majors at the University of South Carolina, served as co-captains on a four person team at the Conference at Duke University held April 8-10th.

Nine teams compiled of students from the top engineering schools throughout South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia, competed in thirteen categories of competitions during the ASCE Carolinas Conference. The competitions included: Balsawood Bridge, Concrete Canoe, Construction Management, Earthquake, Environmental, Mead Paper, Mystery, Quiz Bowl, Service, Steel Bridge, Surveying, Tshirt Design, Tug of War. The Dennis Corporation interns and team co-captains, Megan and Kyle, credited a large portion of the team’s aptitude to Chris Knight, Dennis Corporation Surveying Manager. Mr. Knight provided the equipment the USC team needed, worked with them during practice and gave additional insight to ensure they were prepared for the competition.

“Being able to leverage the experience we have learned from Dennis Corporation and its employees and apply it to the Surveying Competition assisted us greatly in winning first place,” said Megan Easterlin.

Since its inception in 2005, Dennis Corporation has supported educational organizations for engineering students at a variety of colleges and universities including the ASCE. Specifically, Dennis Corporation has created presentations for various meetings of the ASCE chapter at the University of South Carolina.
