On July 7, 2009, Dennis Corporation formally entered into the Employer Partnership Initiative with The United States Army Reserve. Through this partnership, Dennis Corporation agrees to “employ, or seek to employ, members of the Army Reserve and maintain a deep commitment to hiring and supporting the brave men and women who protect and defend America.”
The Employer Partnership Initiative was created by Lt. Gen. Jack C. Stultz, Chief of the Army Reserve, in April of 2008. His goal was to provide stability for Army Reserve Soldiers and their families, allowing them to pursue both their careers in the military and in the professional career track. This partnership gives employers all over the country, a highly skilled and educated pool of possible employees. With the current five-year rotation of training and deployment, the Army Reserve can provide businesses with a stable employee, while giving them the ability to plan for the future.
Soldiers participating in the program can visit the Employer Partnership website and use the search engine provided by the DirectEmployers Association to search and apply for jobs. Once he or she has found a job of interest, they then fill out a Referral Form. This form verifies the status the Soldier holds in the Army Reserve. From there, the Soldier is taken to the company’s webpage, where they complete and submit an online application. Through the partnership the Army Reserve has with DirectEmployers Association, participating businesses are given a cost-effective way to gain qualified personnel and give Soldiers a way to pursue their business goals in an efficient manner.
Although Dennis Corporation entered into this agreement on July 7, it has been committed to employing members of the Army Reserve and veterans of the armed forces since its inception in 2005. Currently, Dennis Corporation employs two members of the Army Reserve. Dennis Corporation’s Winnsboro Branch Manager, Heyward Mattox serves as a Major in the SC State Guard. Additionally, Dennis Corporation’s Special Projects Manager, Dwight Cathcart serves as a Captain in the SC National Guard and is currently commanding the 1223 Engineering Company in Summerville, SC.
